Mount Lavinia is located 12 kilometers south of Colombo along the Galle Road

Sir Thomas Maitland chose the headland at what is now known as Mount Lavinia Beach as the site for his official residence. The house was converted into Mount Lavinia Hotel. This is the view from one of the rooms in a hotel that still draws celebrities and travelers from all over the world.
