Traditional wet rice farming involves keeping the rice seeds and young plants submerged under water to keep weed infestation at bay until the young rice plants are well established. At this stage, the rice paddies are then drained and allowed to dry out. Terraced irrigation fields allow water to be transported between levels efficiently and maximize land usage. |
