Traditional banca, or dugout canoe, ferrying a Philippine farmer and merchandise

The favored local form of transport has always been the banca, or boat. This simple-looking craft is capable of transporting large loads of produce. Banca vary widely in their size and shapes, but are usually constructed from available materials such as bamboo and wood.
