Native Boats, Philippines.

The traditional form of water transport through Philippine history has been the "banca", or boat

Bancas, or traditional boats, come in all shapes, colors and sizes. This photo demonstrates the utilization of readily available building materials such as bamboo and wood for the banca. Prior to the Spanish colonization, there were no bridges in the Philippines and all waterways were traversed by boats.
