Crossing a Stream

Dug-out canoes, or "bancas", were traditionally used to cross bodies of water through Philippine history

Prior to the Spanish occupation, tribal communities chose to live by waterways and used boats as their preferred method of transportation. "Bangkeros" refers to the boatmen who tended the boats.
