Bilibid Prison was built in 1847. Bilibid prison was formally opened in Manila in 1865 by a Spanish Royal Decree. Many revolutionaries throughout Philippine history found themselves incarcerated here, and it was used by the Japanese when they conquered the Philippines in World War II as well to hold Allied prisoners. |
