Quetta is almost 5,000 feet above sea level, and not far from the Bolan Pass into Afghanistan
During British times, blankets of snow commonly covered the city in winter. In recent years, perhaps due to climate changes and the rapid growth of city traffic and smog, it rarely snows. This 100-year old view complements the summer view (below in links) of what was then called Lytton road.
Today Quetta, rebuilt after a devastating earthquake in 1935, is a bustling multi-cultural city of Pashtuns, Baluchis, Afghans and various other Pakistani ethnic groups.
