The famous Thatbyinnyu Pagoda was constructed by King Alaung Sithu

The colossal size of Thatbyinnyu Pagoda make it a significant example of Bagan's Middle period between the 10th and 13th centuries. Bagan is in the central arid part of Myanmar, and was once known as the City of the Enemy Crusher and Land of Copper. It had thousands of pagodas.
