Linked to the Irrawaddy River by means of the Twante Canal, Yangon River acts as the access channel to Yangon
|
 |
The city of Yangon is surrounded by muddy water on its three sides. The city's busy port is positioned on the Yangon River (formerly the Rangoon River). In the 19th century, boats of different shapes and sizes in addition to some ocean-going vessels and steam-driven ferries could be seen crowding the river. Yangon River forms the key access route to Yangon city. |
