Gubyaukgyi Pagoda is renowned for its ancient mural paintings

Gubyaukgyi Pagoda was built in the 13th century. The pagoda has a spire similar to the Mahabodhi Temple at Bodha Gaya, India. This pagoda is known for the fine frescoes that depict scenes from the jatakas, or stories related to the earlier births of the Buddha.
