King Theebaw's Monastery - Mandalay

Theebaw (Thibaw) was the younger son of King Mindon and studied in a Buddhist monastery which is often called as King Theebaw's Monastery

King Theebaw (Thibaw) was strongly influenced by Supayalat, his wife and his mother-in-law. Thibaw's accession to the throne was accompanied by a lot of violence. The short reign (1878ñ85) of King Theebaw came to an end when the British took control of Upper Burma.
