Relics of the past four Buddhas are enshrined inside the Shwe Dagon Pagoda
The manner in which numerous diamonds, gold plating and precious stones are used in this famous pagoda speak highly about the artistic skills and craftsmanship of Burmese artisans. The four sets of relics preserved here include the water filter of Konagamana, the staff of Kakusandha, and a piece of Kassapa's robe. They were all disciples of the Buddha. Eight hairs of Gautama Buddha are said to be in this pagoda.
