Carved stern of a Burmese Boat.

Many large Burmese boats have covered living quarters with a raised stern adorned with intricate carved designs

Burmese boats, used to ferry goods and passengers, have often struck visitors for their remarkable beauty. As the sender of this card, a missionary, wrote to a friend in Andover in the US in 1908: "The picture shows Burmese carving shipping and floating river boats. We are well and happy."
