A room or courtyard area apparently used for manufacturing
|
 |
Narrow brick walls specify the borders of a small room or courtyard located in the low-lying region between L and SD Areas on the Citadel Mound. Mud bricks and baked bricks of standard size (7 x 14 x 28 cm) were used in building houses while a different size (10 x 20 x 40 cm) was utilized in the construction of platforms and city walls. Both sizes of brick had identical proportions expressed by 1:2:4 ratio. The fill inside this room consists of different types of craft manufacturing debris, including agate bead making, chert blade making, shell working and several finished stone tools as well as beads. The white surface seen here is a thick bed of encrusted salts. |
