Larger wells were built of ordinary shaped bricks that were joined with wedge shaped ones to reinforce the structure

Many of the large wells were made with bricks. This prevented waste water from re-entering the well. The top of these wells were subject to displacement due to the constant rubbing of ropes against the surface. So, the steening was made thicker and sometimes bricks with special grooves were used at the top surface of these wells. |
