Excavations here in the 1960s unearthed a mud brick platform with buildings on top

Dr. G. F. Dales conducted UM excavations in 1964-65 which exposed a big mud brick platform. Several brick buildings were built on top of this platform. These were separated by narrow lanes. Excavations in this area also unearthed pottery which was used to prepare the most comprehensive analysis of Mohenjo-daro pottery published by the University Museum Press in 1986 (and now available on HARP). The Buddhist stupa and citadel mound can also be seen in the background. |
