Most ancient city structures were built of sun dried baked-mud bricks
|
 |
One comparatively successful low cost technique employed to fight the destructive nature of salts present in the fired bricks is to apply a thick layer of mud and straw plaster on the walls. Later this cover is sprayed with clay slurry. When the salts percolate to the surface of the mud plaster, crystals are formed without causing any damage to the underlying fired bricks. |
