The Tokugawa family mausoleum lies in the grounds of the Zojoji Temple in Tokyo.
Zojoji Temple was built at the end of the 14th century as the main temple of the Buddhist Jodo sect. It was moved to its present location in Tokyo 200 years later by Shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu who claimed it as his family's temple. Zojoji Temple's main gate was constructed in 1605 in a Chinese Tang Dynasty style.
