Bookmark and Share

Two Russian men sledding probably during or after the Russo-Japanese War.

The caption reads "Snowing Sibera. At Irkutsk city. Russian coachmen. Snowslide. Explorer Sugano."

The Russo-Japanese War began in 1904. The Russians were after a warm water port, and the Japanese were concerned at Russia's interest in Korea, which they considered within their sphere of influence.
