One of the many Shinto Shrines in Tokyo used for public worship
Followers of Shinto frequently worship at public shrines. This oldest religious practices in Japan involves the worship of gods called "kami," or dieties tied to natural objects like rocks. It has no written texts to follow. It co-exists with Buddhism and many Japanese practice traiditons common to both faiths.
Note the unique Japanese design of this postcard, with a photographic image in the center surrounded by color, line art and a bridge silhouette. |
