Japan's highest peak, Mount Fuji is a dormant volcano that last erupted in 1708.

Mount Fuji can be seen from both Tokyo and Yokohama on clear days. This almost perfectly shaped volcano has been worshiped as a sacred mountain and has inspired many artists.
This lacquered card by the Japanese publisher Hoshinoya is similar to Raphael Tuck and Son's Oilette cards with its thick use of color and visible brush strokes. |
