The Minatogawa Shrine in Kobe was dedicated to Masashige Kusunoki, a 14th century military commander
The port of Kobe is said to have been utilized since 600 AD, and the city briefly served as Japan's capital in the 12th century. Famous for its world-famous beef, the city was devastated by a large earthquake in 1995.
Masashige Kusunoki was a prominent samurai who helped the Emperor Go-Daigo briefly rule Japan in the 1300s, and is best known for following a futile order out of honor that led to his certain death. A samurai's sword and arrows lie at the bottom of the card.
