The Kyoto Public Hall is one of the many stunning buildings in this former capital of Japan.

The city of Kyoto served as Japan's capital and home to its emperor for over 1,000 years, from 794 to 1868. The city is now the seventh largest in the country. Because of Kyoto's priceless collection of shrines, temples and historic buildings, it was fortunate to not be among the cities destroyed in air
