Men and women in Western dress skate at the ice rink (which doubles as a pool) in the compound of the Nikko Kanaya Hotel. The hotel offers about 80 guest rooms in four historic buildings built at various times from the classic Meiji era (1866-1912) through the mid-1950s.
The postcard, from sometime during the first half of the 20th century, indicates that ice skating can be enjoyed from December to March.  |
