Mount Fuji is frequently depicted in art and photographs.
|
 |
Virtually every printmaker in Japan has used Mt. Fuji as a subject, and the most famous series of prints showing the sacred mountain is by Hokusai (1760-1849). It is also frequently visited by sightseers and climbers. Note the liberal use of gold in a painterly postcard that turns the mountain into an almost abstract symbol. |
