An early G. Kolff & Co. card showing a couple being being married in full wedding regalia. As in much of Asia, weddings are the major festive events in a family's life, and involve far more than the bride and bridegroom. Instead they bring together whole clans and extended families in a complex set of economic and ritual exchange. Like with other Kolff cards, the realism of the faces suggests that the origin of the image may have been a photograph. |
