[Original Dutch] Nieuwe Tjandiweg, Semarang [end]

This road, constructed around 1914, opened a lush hill area to settlement outside the city of Semarang on the island of Java. This new area was meant for Europeans, and was part of a carefully laid plan to separate races in Indonesia. Thomas Karsten
