Mehrangarh Fort is located in Jodhpur city in the state of Rajasthan. It is one of India's largest forts. The fort is situated on a 400 feet lofty heel having high and thick walls. Inside its boundaries,
there are many palaces, which are known for their carvings and courtyards.
In 1458 A.D., Rao Jodha (1438-1488), one of Rainmal's 24 sons became the fifteenth Rathore ruler. The need for a safer place for Jodha gave India one of her largest forts i.e. Mehrangarh Fort. The fort has four gates approached by a winding road. Within the fort there are some magnificent palaces with beautifully carved panels, and latticed windows. These are the Moti Mahal, the Phool Mahal, the Sheesh Mahal, the Sileh Khana and the Daulat Khana. |
