Jaisalmer is a town in the Indian state of Rajasthan. It is also called The Golden City. It stands on a ridge of yellowish sandstone and is crowned by a fort, which contains the palace and several temples. Many of the houses and temples are beautifully sculptured. It is located in the heart of the Thar
Desert.
Jaisalmer is named after its founder Rawal Jaisal, Jaisalmer means the Hill Fort of Jaisal.  |
