In India many people like to eat goat meat. Goat selling is motivated by religious sacrifice, especially among Muslims who spend large amounts of money to buy goats on Eid-ul-Zuha, a Muslim festival signifying the feast of sacrifice. Eid-ul-Zuha is also known as Baqra-e-Eid (Baqra means goat), and is
celebrated at the end of the Haj pilgrimage in the holy city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia.
Baqra-e-Id or Eid-ul-Zuha is celebrated on the tenth day of Zil-Haji, the last month of the year by the Islamic calendar. Muslims sacrifice goats on Eid-ul-Zuha and donate the meat among relatives, friends and poor people. |
