Mysore is the second largest city in the Indian state of Karnataka. Mysore is the administrative seat of Mysore District, and
Mysore Division. It is located 135 km. from Bangalore, the state capital of Karnataka. In1, November 2006, Mysore was renamed (in English) by the state government to Mysuru. The city is known for its palaces and proximity to several other places of interest like Srirangapatna, Sivasamudram Falls, and Krishna Raja Sagara Dam etc. The city is spread across an area of 128 square kilometres. Along with sandalwood products and crafts, Mysore is also popular for its celebration of the ten day Navaratri (Dasera) festival held every year.
