Beautiful carved door in Jodhpur. |
 |
Jodhpur is called 'The Gateway to Thar Desert'. Jodhpur also is renowned as the "Blue City" of Rajasthan. This desert city is the second largest city only after Jaipur in Rajasthan. In 1458
A.D., Rao Jodha (1438-1488), one of Rainmal's 24 sons became the fifteenth 'Rathore ruler'. The need for a safer place of Jodha gave India one of her largest forts i.e. Mehrangarh Fort. Within the fort there are some magnificent palaces with beautifully carved panels and doors, latticed windows. These are the Moti Mahal, the Phool Mahal, the Sheesh Mahal, the Sileh Khana and the Daulat Khana. |
