It is believed that Lord Vishnu appeared as "Sri Parthasarathy" at this place
The Vishnu Temple in Tiruvallikkeni (Triplicane) is popularly called Parthasarathy Temple or Divya Desam. This temple is one of the 108 holy centers of the Vaishnavite Sect. It was constructed by the Pallavas in the 8th century. In the 16th century, the temple was renovated by rulers of the Vijayanagara Empire.
The Parthasarathy Temple is spread over almost 1.5 acres of land. It has two prakarams (pathways) and a five tiered rajagopuram (tall tower) that can be seen from a distance. This temple has five shrines where the five incarnations of Lord Vishnu are enshrined. This Vishnu Temple is also called Allikkeni after alli (lily) flowers were found in the temple tank.
