[Original caption] A Peep into into the Victoria Gardens. These beautifully laid out gardens are a source of pleasure to the weary and jaded worker in the cool of the evening after a hard days work in the broiling sun and stuff offices. [end]
The Victoria Gardens was set up in 1861. Situated on a land of 48 acres in Byculla, Victoria Gardens has a zoo and the Victoria and Albert Museum on its premises. The zoo has several endangered species of animals and birds while the museum is famous for its archaeological collections. There is a big clock tower influenced by Renaissance architecture at the entrance of Rani Jijamata Udyan. A big statue of an elephant brought from Elephanta Caves is another big attraction of this garden. |
