The Third Bridge of Srinagar is popularly called Fateh Kadal. The word "kadal" refers to a "bridge" in Kashmiri language. This bridge was built by the British on Jhelum river. A scenic view of Srinagar is offered from the Third Bridge. Besides old brick buildings located on the banks of river Jhelum, the mosque of Shah-i-Hamdan and a temple of goddess Kali are also situated near Fateh Kadal. Another major draw is the sight of the famous houseboats of Srinagar with shingled roofs that float on the river below.
