Seated on a horse, this Jaipur Sardar wears a traditional dress
|
 |
The word "Sardar" refers to a leader. The descendants of the earlier princely states of Jaipur were often called "sardars". These people are known for their bravery and still act as the guardians of the local people. This hand-colored image by Jaipur photographer Gobindram Oodeyram was among the more popular images of this Rajasthani city. |
