The houseboats in Baramullah are primarily used for residential purposes
Houseboats are a common sight on the Jhelum River and on Dal Lake. The well-furnished houseboats of Baramullah - usually moored on the banks of the river - are a big tourist attraction. Beautifully decorated with flowers and local artifacts, these houseboats feature wooden carvings on their exteriors. This could be one of the hundreds of British-era houseboats still found in Kashmir valley.
