Chandni Chowk, the famous street in Delhi, is located just opposite the Red Fort's Lahore Gate. Chandni Chowk is also called the 'Moonlight Square'. It was built in the 17th century by Jahanara Begum, the eldest daughter of Shah Jahan, the Mughal Emperor. Magnificent buildings, a sarai and beautiful gardens were laid along this street. The clock tower of Chandney Chowk is another famous landmark that was the site of many historical events. However, this tower collapsed in 1951.
