In 1311, Ala-ud-din Khilji carried out the extension work of the southern gateway of Quwaat-ul-Islam mosque. Made of red sandstone, Alauddin Gate has arched openings on each side. The base of this gate is octagonal in shape and has a wide dome at the top. The arches of Alauddin Gate have beautiful geometric patterns and calligraphic embellishments done on white marble.
