This delicate image was both handpainted and uses cut-up stamps or currency for the body of the man slaying the snake. The face of the man on the stamp is that of one of the founders of modern China, Dr. Sun Yat-sen. He served as President of the new Republic of China in 1912, and campaigned for the unity of the country against various warlords and foreign powers until his death in 1925. He remains revered in China. |
