The city of Hangchow is famous for its landscaped gardens that highlight the area's natural beauty.

Located southwest of Shanghai, the sub-provincial city of Hangchow has a population of over 6 million residents. Now commonly referred to as Hangzhou, it has been one of the wealthiest cities in China for over 1,000 years. Its prosperity has led to the development of several large public parks that define the ancient art of Chinese gardening. The West Lake is the most notable of these parks with over 60 acres of pagodas, cultural sites, hills and native plants. |
