Paper currency first appeared in China over 1,000 years ago. Paper notes were widely produced until the 15th century when inflation soared and their value plummeted. It was centuries before paper currency was used again.
This handmade image was both painted in watercolor, and uses old stamps to construct the boys body. This kind of postcard was a specifically Chinese invention and led to a very unusual set of images. |
