Royal Grand Palace complex is located on Chao Phraya River's eastern bank
The construction of the Royal Grand Palace complex started in 1782, during the rule of Rama I. From 18th to mid-20th century, king of Thailand used this palace as his official residence. The visitors need to follow a strict dress code in order to visit the Grand Palace, especially the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, located at a corner of the palace complex next to the outer court.
