Postcard, "Souvenir de Baalbek" shows images of Temple of Jupiter, Pre-Roman structures at Baalbek, pre-Roman Stones, and "general view of the Acropolis."
Northeast of Beirut in Eastern Lebanon is the temple complex of Baalbek at the high point in the fertile Bekaa valley. The ruins are some of the most extraordinary holy places of ancient times. The largest stone block construction in the world stood at Baalbek long before the Phoenicians constructed a temple there to the God Baal. Later, the Romans built the huge Temple of Jupiter.
