The Ottoman Turks ruled Jeddah since 1517 for a long time. So, some old buildings of the city show influence of Ottoman architecture, a blend of architectural styles of the Middle East and Mediterranean. The unpaved streets of Jeddah were somewhat haphazard and had closely-packed buildings on both of its sides. The Jaz Railway was built between 1900 and 1908 from Damascus to Medina. |
