Old Dutch colonial houses in Indonesia, which the Dutch called Batavia
A significant hallmark of Dutch colonial houses of Jakarta is their wide gambrel roof with flaring eaves which stretch to cover the porches. These houses are built following a linear floor plan. The walls at the end are generally made of stone. The chimney is usually situated on one or both ends of the roof. Other characteristics of these old Dutch colonial houses are their double-hung sash windows having outward swinging wood casements, central Dutch double doorway and dormers with shed-like projections.
