Hebron is one of the largest Palestinian cities

Hebron is also the home of Abraham's Oak, an ancient oak tree thought to be almost 5000 years old. It is here, according to Jewish, Christian and Muslim traditions that the Prophet Abraham first pitched his tent and the angels are said to have promised Abraham a son and heir.
Today the site belongs to the Russian Orthodox Church. In the middle of the 19th century a major portion of the tree broke off, so what we see today is a fragment of what visitors here saw for centuries beforehand.  |
